Uzalo a local series drama, sets a new television viewership record In April. Uzalo is produced by Stained Glass Productions, which is co-owned by Kobedi “Pepsi” Pokane and Gugu Zuma-Ncube. It started airing in 2015 and broadcasts from Monday to Friday on SABC1.
Uzalo soapie peaked at a record-breaking 11.4-million viewers in April. The show achieved this milestone with an episode that aired on April 15th. In the episode Nkunzi decides to use his charm to get what he wants, all hell breaks loose when Nomcebo discovers what Qhabanga did, and Fikile realizes what Sbu does for Thulani.
Entertainment, soapies, and news have gotten a big bump since lockdown but much of the prime time content remains steady. However, despite the spike in viewership, Uzalo runs out of content thus will stop broadcasting on 11 May 2020 despite starting production on 6 May 2020. Uzalo will return on television on 15 June 2020.
